Batman: Arkham Shadow VR



When it was time to upgrade from the Quest 2, Batman was included as a promotion with the purchase of Quest 3 and 3s devices.

I’d say I’m a Batman fan. I watched the animated TV series and movies as a kid, all the movies—including The Lego Batman Movie—and I absolutely love it all. So, having the opportunity to suit up as Batman? I’m not going to lie—I was pretty amped. There was definitely a lot of “I’m Batman” and “Yes, Alfred.”

My initial thoughts? The graphics are incredibly well done, and the game runs exceptionally well for a standalone VR title. Think about all the VR jank out there in Steam stores (with the exception of Half-Life: Alyx), consider the kind of gaming system you needed to build to run it, and really appreciate what they’ve achieved with this standalone game. It looks incredible.

The game drops you straight into the action as you learn how to be Batman, but it still keeps you engaged. As you progress, the combat becomes fluid, and honestly, it feels badass.

Contractors

Contractors was the first game for VR that I played where I was excited for the direction of VR FPS. Caveman Studios have treated the game seemingly since the time of its release as a community, and the mod content showcases that. In Contractors mods you can find many play styles with additional maps, loadouts and even progression systems. Games never seem hard to come by, and the game play is fun with good mechanics. The developers have since released Contractors Exfil, a battle royal style game - which made me worried for the state of Contractors. I can say in my last sign in it is still very active.
